It was nineteen years ago today that brothers, Chris and Tony Marsden, amalgamated their enterprises to form Marsden Direct Group. Recognised and respected in the events, exhibition and roadshow industry, the years that followed saw them grow the business with what has become the group mantra – creative innovative excellence!

In 2021, Tony left the business and, under Chris’s leadership, the development of the Marsden Exhibitions brand began; Luga Baruga, headed up by Nick Lovett, came under the umbrella – benefiting from the resources and talent and, in turn, supporting the digital transformation of the group. EXPO Services has also become more than just an idea and recent investment in capital equipment in this area allows us to embrace a more sustainable approach with water-based inks, recyclable Hewlett Packard ink cartridges and energy-efficient printers.

In addition, on the anniversary of Marsden Direct Group entering its twentieth year of trading, Ken Walters has been promoted to Group Commercial Director – heading up Business Development, Sales, Marketing and Client Liaison across Marsden Exhibitions, Luga Baruga and EXPO Services.

Ken commented, “This is a great opportunity – picking up the baton and running with some great businesses that have, like many, had to manage some unforeseen challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In all instances, they have really bounced back amazingly well. Marsden Exhibitions has had its best year ever and our digital transformation programme (delivered by the Luga Baruga talent) has added c20% new business growth with some great clients across Europe! Luga Baruga is developing some great relationships with some international brands like Bacardi and Moose Knuckles – and it has also expanded its skill sets and expertise as it develops into a 360° agency. EXPO Services is getting ready to launch after a £300k+ investment in capital equipment and talent”.

Ken added, “We are about to embark on a journey of high growth deploying marketing leading platforms, equipment, processes and talent to ensure we achieve our ambitions. This is a moment to thank the team and all our partners for doing an amazing job in the last nine/twelve months – and onwards and upwards!”
